Welcome to the Counter Strike Division page of the Wild Cards Clan.
Basic tactics for Counter Strike are actually a bit different than most other FPS games. This as,
contrary to most other FPS, Counter Strike is realistic. No ... you won't respawn after someone
shoots you in the head with an AK in real life. But there are elements that make Counter Strike more
realistic. The most important for the gameplay is the recoil that the weapons give. Recoil means that you
can't just hold down the fire button as the accuracy of the weapon decreases with each consecutive shot fired.
Movement (running, walking, jumping) will also decrease the accuracy of the weapon to a certain point. This
all adds to the realism and depth of the game.
In CS, like in nearly all FPS games these days, the amount of damage that is done relates to where the oponent is
(or you are)hit. A head shot counts to the most amount of damage followed by shots to the upper body. Then comes the
shots to the lower body. The least damage is done by shots in the limbs.
Whilst playing CS you should take the following into account:
- A moving target is harder to hit than a stationary target. So try not to play sitting duck.
- You should AIM. As said before; a head-shot does the most damage. If your oponent hits you 5
times in the limbs and you hit him once in the head, you'll probably win (depending on which weapon the both of you
are yielding).
- Don't hold down the shoot button. Instead fire in bursts as this increases the weapons accuracy (you'll allow
your aim to improve a little before firing the next shot). If you have the time to aim do so.
- Don't just run around all the time. Take little breaks to walk instead of run at certain points. This will allow
you to hear your oponents footsteps when they are running. When you walk you don't make any noise. A good thing to
do when you think an oponent is close as he/she may not know you're there in which case you could surprise him/her.
- You can shoot through certain walls and such. Take this into account i.e. when hiding behind a wooden door.
Oponents can shoot through these... then again .. so can you. At certain times you can use this feature to your
advantage.
- Try to use all different weapons. At certain times you'll need to use a different weapon other than you favourite
weapon (the m4 for me). For instance during the first round you may just be running around with a pistol. Or at certain
times during team play the need for snipers arises.
- When you're in a "man to man" fight and you empty your clip in your weapon switch to a different weapon.
If you reload now chances are that you won't be alive by the time you've reloaded. Switching to your secondary weapon
will allow you to fire on a little longer. If the clip in your secondary weapon had been emptied; switch to your knife.
